So often we put God in a box.
We put God in a box with a paddle lock
and we think he can’t get out.
We tell him to stay as we turn and walk away.
We get ourselves into all kinds of troubles and problems
and we expect him to help us.
We expect him to help us escape from the fear
while we fail to acknowledge that he is near.
He is right here!
We let our minds conceal him inside that box
locked up.
We say, “Why God, why?
Why are you letting me suffer through this pain?
Why do you let me feel this way?”
We forget that WE are the ones who placed him inside that box,
locked it and threw the key away.
We said to him, “My problems are far too big so for right now just stay here while I fade away.”
We forget how much power he holds.
We forget he is bigger than our problems
and will get us far far away from the enemy’s stronghold on our lives.
We don’t understand that when we locked him up,
we locked up the man with limitless love, so much, that he died on a tree,
nails in his hands and feet,
for us to live,
for us to have peace.
We don’t understand that when we locked him up,
we locked up the God with limitless power, so much,
that he drives the demons away
and sets the captives free!
We don’t understand that when we locked him up
inside that box,
that teeny, tiny, itty-bitty box,
we locked up the God who created us,
the sun, the stars, and the things we can’t even see.
We forget of his power and just how limitless it truly is,
and when we look over into that box
we want to refuse to see that it has already been broken out of,
the paddle lock torn off,
our problems taken care of,
our lives set free!
We forget to see-
I forget to see the limitless power that lives inside of him
also lived inside of me!
