Forty days and forty nights,

the storm comes and never goes.

It pauses for a hundred and fifty days with no place left to go.

It won’t leave, it never does.

I’ll just sit and wait.

God, are you still there?

Please, answer my prayer.

I’m waiting for the river to go down.

I’m waiting to hear your sweet sound.

I’ll give you a test, but it is as black and cold as a raven.

It won’t come back positive.

I’ll give you another, but you say, “wait, this dove is not ready to fly.”

I wait and wait, I try once more.

You answer my prayer completely!

You send back my dove with hope and life within it’s grasp!

You’ve promised me that my trials are no more.

God, you keep your promises with everything you do.

I’ll look to the sky or in a drop of rain.

I know that you’re here with me, God, with the wonderful colors of heaven!
